This is the story about a Greek named Icarus,
Who made a pair of wings out of wax,
He flew real high like a bird in the sky,
Sure enough, the sucker fell back!

'Cause he flew too close to the sun, and his wings got burned.

Well, your love, babe, was a forbidden fruit,
With a taste I never knew could be real,
It drove me to heights of ecstasy
Good G-d, you don't know how that feels!

But we flew too close to the sun, and our wings got burned.

Well, you and me, baby, knew from the start,
That our love was all wrong,
We knew that ecstasy, would lead to tragedy,
And it's tragedy, that wrote this song.

'Cause we flew too close to the sun, and our wings got burned.

Well, Jack and Jill went up the hill,
And there they made sweet love,
They both fell down and broke their crowns,
'Cause they climbed a little too high above.

And they got too close to the sun, and they got burned.

Well the moral of the story,
And the moral of the song,
Though you might not like being cool and right,
You can burn in the heat if you're wrong!

And you get too close to the sun, and your wings get burned.
